There is not a basement anywhere that you can guarantee will not have water or moisture in it some day. Either from a plugged downspout outside or an overflowing toilet inside, water will find its way. Although we fixed foundation problems and took all reasonable precautions, tile on the basement floor assures me that the ineveitable leak won't be a disaster.
